2016 Monaco Yacht Show… A review from Bachmann Yachts
As always the Bachmann Yachts team were busy at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show held from 28th September to 1st October. Several pre-planned meetings were conducted with clients, yacht managers and specialist superyacht legal/financial consultants, apart from the usual impromptu meetings and discussions that are always an integral part of the event.
Gary Le Cras, Bachmann’s Head of Yachting Services said, “we found that Monaco was once again the perfect place to meet up with customers and like minded colleagues, and we came away after a busy few days with the feeling that our profile and credibility was well served by our attendance at the show.”
One thing that is guaranteed at MYS is that many newly launched or delivered superyachts will be on display, and that there will be plenty of great photography opportunities in the warm late September sunlight of the Côte d’Azur. The 2016 edition was no exception with 125 superyachts, and 40 luxury tenders on display, attracting some 40,000 visitors.
Bachmann Yachts are pleased to share this mini review of some highlights at the show, with a photo gallery capturing the vibrancy and atmosphere of the ‘one and only’ Monaco Yacht Show.
The Dutch superyacht builder Heesen certainly had cause to celebrate at MYS, as the largest yacht they have built to date, named ‘Galactica Super Nova’ won two awards at the show.
On September 27, she was awarded Best Exterior Design and Finest New Superyacht of the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show. Congratulations to her visionary Owners and to the exterior designer Espen Oeino!
The 70m Galactica Super Nova and the newly built 85m dry dock are surely signs of yet bigger and better things to come from Heesen shipyards in Holland.
And a yacht more in the style of the increasingly popular ‘expedition vessel’ had her world premier at the show, in the shape of the new OTAM Custom Range 35 metre named, ‘MY Gipsy.’
Representing the Italian yard’s semi-displacement all aluminium Custom Range, the yacht offers superior volumes for the less than 300GT(295GT) category.
With a stunning unique lay-out and interiors by Tommaso Spadolini, the design brief translated her Owner’s needs and personal style into a vessel with a range of over 2000 nm and a maximum speed of 20 knots.
