Bachmann Group offers beneficial export/import solutions for superyacht owners

FiscalPR

The yachting division of Guernsey based Bachmann Group has a lot to offer owners of luxury yachts. In fact, anyone looking for a one-stop-shop that will effectively take care of corporate structuringmanagementrecruitment and/or training of crew for their yacht, will find the answer within the expertise and scope of the in-house team at Bachmann.

Yachts currently under the management of Bachmann's Yachting Division are owned by companies and individuals from all over the world, but their unique location and fiscal status in the Channel Islands also allows them to offer an additional economically advantageous service; this can be very attractive to owners acquiring new build or brokerage yachts in Europe and wishing to export them under the most favourable conditions.   And due to the Group's four decades of in depth maritime services experience across multi- jurisdictions, the whole transaction will be carried out in safe reliable hands.

Their position in the English Channel and just offshore from Northern France, enables them to offer a convenient stop-over for yachts transiting from shipyards and refit facilities in Britain and Northern Europe.  And looking at the fiscal/taxation scenario, Guernsey and Jersey are within the Customs territory of the EU, but do not fall under its fiscal regime.

This in simple terms, means that the islands are not subject to the imposition of EU VAT. So, by utilising Bachmann's specialised expertise and their fully audited administration routines it is possible for owners to have their yachts exported into the Channel Islands territory on a VAT free basis.

There are also excellent berthing and bunkering facilities for large yachts situated very close to Bachmann's HQ, where high volume tax/duty exempt fuel delivery can be arranged. The company is staffed by local Guernseymen and women with all the contacts and local knowledge to make arrangements for a smooth, efficient well planned visit for all sizes of yacht. Commercial berths up to 135 metres can be made available by prior arrangement.

This combination of professional facilities and special offshore fiscal procedures can make a distinctively compelling case for routing newly acquired yachts via the Channel Islands, in order to complete customs formalities and to officially document their export from the VAT territories of the EU.

Or indeed, to efficiently and legally formalise the import into the European Union, of a yacht purchased or constructed outside of its territorial limits.

Along with Bachmann's complete yacht management/crewing and corporate structuring services, there could also be circumstances where the purchase or sale of a yacht could be arranged via the company's Yachting Division, all within the Guernsey jurisdiction. This would effectively complete the transaction without incurring EU levied VAT.

Naturally in any of the above mentioned circumstances the staff at Bachmann would be able to offer a comprehensive package to include all the essential shoreside support, including dealing with all necessary customs and port administration formalities.
