Bachmann Training Delivers First Oxy-Fuel Gas Course

Gas Course 1_0

Bachmann Training recently delivered their first specialised Oxy-Fuel Safety Gas Course at their Training Centre in Lee-On- Solent, in partnership with PG&S Gases.

The course followed a syllabus according to the nationally accredited safety training for users of compressed and liquefied gases. The provision of such training, information and support is designed to minimise risk, thus resulting in an assured workforce and a safer workplace.

It also ensures that employees are given the necessary training enabling them to carry out mandatory annual inspections on their own mobile Oxy-acetylene/Propane equipment as required by Health & Safety regulations.

The students enjoyed interactive, engaging classroom and practical sessions covering operator behaviours, gas properties, hazards & safe light up/shut down procedures including specific BCGA CP7 & UK government legislation for cutting and welding applications.

Training Objective & Content

The comprehensive training leads to the award of an Oxy-fuel Gases Safety Passport Card demonstrating that the learner has been provided with, and has understood, the safety requirements for the safe use of oxy-fuel gases & equipment.

There is an interactive classroom training session of 3.5 hours duration on oxy-fuel gases and equipment with topics including: Operator behaviours, gas properties and hazards, cylinder identification and data, gas equipment, emergency procedures, cylinder storage, handling and transport, PPE, Legislation and Codes of Practice.

This is followed by a 1-hour practical session where all delegates undertake before use checks, regulator fitting, manual handling of cylinders, plus light up andshutdown procedures.

Companies who attended the inaugural course were Hughes & Salvidge, SERCO, Tony Strugell Roofing, A & S Motors, and Trant Engineering.
