Bachmann Yachts at the Monaco Yacht Show 2016
Once again its almost time for the greatest Yacht Show on Earth, and as always the Bachmann Yachts Team will be there, getting around the show meeting clients old and new. We are looking forward to being there as usual, offering advice and guidance on all aspects of yacht ownership, crew employment and management of superyachts.
Prior to this year’s show, which runs from 28th September to 3rd October, Bachmann Yachts are pleased to bring you a brief selection of news items as a foretaste of the larger than ever range of exhibitors, events and gleaming luxury yachts that will be lined up in the sunshine at Port Hercule in Monaco.
Firstly, it has been announced that it is now possible to download a MYS mobile App on to your smartphone or tablet, which is totally and exclusively dedicated to the show and all of its features. In today’s age of mobile communications ‘on-the- go’, this seems a timely introduction by the show’s management, which we are sure will be very popular with exhibitors and visitors alike.
We have had a test run of the App, and can recommend it for planning your visit and checking out what to see, and where. The app is easy to navigate and categorised into logical segments such as ‘Exhibitors’, ‘Yachts’, ‘Site Map’ and ‘Services.’ Of course it is downloadable for free from the Apple Store for IOS phones and tablets or the Google Play Store for Android Devices.
Did you know that Bachmann also has a mobile App, specifically for our crew recruitment services? So using your mobile device you can discover the latest crew or officer vacancies, express your interest in vacant positions, and upload or update your CV when it suits you. Download the Bachmann HR Yachts app on Google Play or via iTunes.
Bachmann Yachts has been recruiting marine staff since 2002 and is both MLC compliant and holds the ISO 9001 standard in marine recruitment.
On 27th September the day before the show opens there will be the Monaco Yacht Summit Presented by the Organisers at the Monaco Yacht Show. The forum will guide and inform delegates via three independent workshops through the many daunting issues to consider when chartering or acquiring a yacht for the first time.
The Charter workshop will explore the advantages of chartering a yacht either as a new experience or before investing in a vessel. The experts will also explain the realistic expectations of opening up a private yacht to commercial activity.
The Purchase & Finance workshop lays the course on yacht selection, financing and legal considerations with a focus on the real benefits of a yacht purchase.
The Management workshop delves into the supercharged topics of crew and yacht management, refit and insurance, berthing considerations.
The Bachmann Team welcomes this kind of introduction to our industry, and we are always on-hand to follow up with detailed advice drawn from over four decades of maritime services experience within our company.
Plus, of course we love talking about superyachts, and as usual many of the vessels on display in Monaco will be from the Dutch yards whose names have become synonymous with build quality, luxury and innovation in the >24 metre yachting world.
For instance the Feadship yard will have two brand-new motor yachts on official display named Vanish and Kamino, both exhibiting what the yard have described as ‘dashing exteriors.’
MY Kamino is a compact Feadship with a length of 33.5 metres and a draught of just 1.8 metres. This design was chosen to allow her owners access to the fjords of Scandinavia and other parts of the world where shallower depths and restricted mooring facilities keep larger superyachts at bay.
MY Vanish also reflects the wishes and requirements of her owners to an exceptional degree with features including a free-standing staircase flanked by a glass wall over three decks, an ingenious extendable balcony for the owner’s stateroom and a highly innovative transom design. Built on a much larger scale she has a length of 66.25 metres, a draught of 3,45 and a beam of 11.8 metres.
Heesen Yachts will be showing their largest yacht to date, the 70m MY Galactica Super Nova. Thanks to her high-performance Fast Displacement Hull Form coupled with an innovative propulsion system, the yacht exceeded her contractual top speed by 0.3 knots to reach an impressive maximum speed of 30.3 knots. She further proved to be very quiet and highly manoeuvrable in all sea conditions.
And from Lynx Yachts in The Netherlands comes the YXT 20. This is a very special design that was conceived to support power and sailing yachts of any size, or to be a stand-alone explorer yacht. People who love the sea created her in an ultra modern, climate-controlled facility with traditional Dutch craftsmanship. YXT20 is built to go to sea - rugged and stable but with an agile cruising performance that supports her special mission. ‘More of a ship than a boat’; this is the claim of Lynx Yachts, the new and dynamic yard in Dutch shipbuilding.
Another well known Dutch builder of semi-custom superyachts is Amels, who will be hosting the enchanting 55-metre ELIXIR (180 ft) at her MYS debut on quay position T CENTRAL T11.
Delivered in June 2016, ELIXIR is the latest incarnation of the successful AMELS 180 design, and she is a perfect showcase for the 6 yachts in the 55 to 83-metre AMELS Limited Editions range (180 to 272 ft).
The Owner collaborated with exterior designer Tim Heywood and interior designer Laura Sessa to create the very personal and characteristic yacht he wanted, but much more quickly than a full custom build.
So, this is just a brief MYS Show preview with some news courtesy of our Dutch yacht builder colleagues, although of course there is a whole lot more to see at MYS 2016…
