MLC comes into Force Aug 2013

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has announced that the Philippines and the Russian Federation have ratified the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC), taking the total number of ratifications past the entry-into-force threshold of 30.  This means that the MLC will take effect worldwide in 12 months’ time.  Although the ILO has yet to announce the precise date, it is likely to be in August 2013.
