Vessel Banned following MLC Inspection

There is growing evidence that Port States are taking a much harder line with vessels breaching MLC regulations.

Following ratification of the MLC by the required number of Countries in August 2013, the 12 month compliance from that date for the rest to meet the requirements is now well past.

Detentions of vessel for specific breaches of the MLC continue to grow and in the last week,Australia’s Maritime Safety Agency (AMSA) has now taken the step of banning a vessel from entering its waters for three months.

This ban is one of a series of measures being taken against no compliant vessels including yachts.
