Best Superyacht in Show: Surprise Winner Revealed
The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is the biggest event of its kind, attracting thousands of visitors to admire the biggest, best and most luxurious the superyacht world has to offer. There were plenty of contenders for the coveted 'Best in Show' event but, after intense deliberation by expert judges, that honour went to Dubai-made Majesty 140.
The superyacht boasts sumptuous interiors created by acclaimed Italian design house Cristiano Gatto, which has outfitted more than 200 show-worthy vessels from all around the world. Three large decks encompass features such as a fully decked out beach club, along with a truly luxurious jacuzzi centrepiece.
Built in Dubai by renowned firm Gulf Craft, Majesty 140 measures 140ft long. Though this is less than half the size of Madsummer (the largest debut at the show, measuring 311ft), this didn't stop it from winning the Best in Show award. Plenty of interested parties examined the boat closely, with one of them finally deciding to purchase for a reported $20m (around £15.6m).
Madsummer was hotly tipped to win the Best in Show award. Built by shipbuilding firm Lürssen, the 311ft superyacht can easily accommodate up to 20 guests to enjoy the colourful interiors and a host of amenities including gym, spa, swimming pool, dance floor and beach lounge. A true touch of classy luxury comes in the form of a helicopter landing pad.
