Yachting in the Land of Smiles...

Thailand is known as the 'Land of Smiles' and is a highly-popular tourist destination. Despite this popularity, there are still plenty of places to relax and enjoy some much needed R&R, especially if you're visiting by boat. Here we look at some of the best chillout spots...

Yachting Summer

  • Ang Thong National Marine Park. 42 separate limestone islands comprise this pristine archipelago which lies off Koh Samui. These beautiful islands inspired the blockbuster movie 'The Beach' and are home to hundreds of caves and hidden lagoons, as well as a seawater lake reached via a series of steep ladders.
  • Koh Nangyuan and Koh Tao. These two sister islands are connected by a secluded beach of the whitest, finest sand. It's an ideal and often deserted place to come ashore for a barbecue or picnic.
  • Shark Island. Located just to the south-east of Koh Tao is Shark Island, famed for being the perfect base for diving from. The water here is teeming with life from corals and sponges to eels and manta rays: adventurous divers will want to head to the east side of the island from where you can take stunning dives from up to 25 metres.
  • The Bay of Chaweng. There are few better places to enjoy the ever-changing but always-beautiful colours of the ocean. It's also an ideal place to moor up while you visit the Jungle Club, a high-class hideaway where you can experience mouthwatering cocktails and chilled out music. The only downside is getting there, which involves quite a long journey via a steep hill!
