Yachting in the Med: Our Top 3 Hotspots

Yacht Safety

With summer on the way, it's time to start planning where you're going to take your yacht! The Mediterranean is one of the top yachting destinations in the world so here we look at three of the best places to visit.

Ionian Islands, Greece

The Ionians comprise twelve separate islands, making this an ideal location for exploring. Once an integral part of Central Greece, the islands became detached from the mainland after major seismic activity along the fault-line that runs beneath the turquoise ocean. This has also led to the formation of tall, majestic mountains and rugged shorelines that make this one of the most picturesque settings in the world. Water depth here is an average of 4,406 metres, the deepest in the Mediterranean Ocean.

Costa Smerelda, Sardinia

Named after the rich emerald-green colour of its waters, Costa Smerelda boasts intensely beautiful beaches of pure white sand. The area is one of the most exclusive parts of Italy and the coast is dotted with high-end restaurants, resorts, golf clubs, and private aviation services. Costa Smerelda is home to the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, which is held here annually. Head to the main town of Porto Cervo to enjoy luxury boutique shopping and a buzzing nightclub scene after the sun goes down.

Southern Corsica

Corsica is known as the 'Island of Beauty', combining stunning scenery with some of the most beautiful architecture in the world. The waters here are perfect for diving and snorkeling while land-based activities include hiking along the Grand Randonnée. Don't miss Bonifacio, a small and charming town located high on top of a cliff.
