Bachmann withdraws from Inter Island Ferry Tender
Bachmann Group has today announced that it withdrew from the States of Guernsey and Jersey tender to run a summer only passenger ferry between the islands.Commenting on the news, Bachmann's CEO Nick Saul said, "Having worked in the ferry industry for much of my career, personally I and the rest of the company was excited by this opportunity. The tender process was extremely tight, with a month to submit proposals and a business plan which was over the Christmas and New Year period for a 1st of May 2018 start. Sadly on examination of the figures, we could not see the service being a financial success despite the potential of subsidies being available"
Mr Saul went on to say, "we remain believers in this project which would be good for the prosperity of both islands and we would be happy to assist whoever is awarded the contract"
