Luxury Yachts: The World's Top Three
Travelling by boat is far more than simply a means for getting from A to B. The romance, adventure and excitement of sailing is unique and is best appreciated from a luxury vessel, from where you can watch the world slip by in total comfort.
Some yachts take this idea of luxury to its ultimate levels and here we look at the three most expensive luxury yachts in the world today.
The History Supreme
Literally made of gold, the History Supreme is valued at a massive $4.8 billion. Owned by Robert Knok, the richest man in Malaysia, the 100-foot luxury yacht took three years to build and, as well as thousands of kilos of gold, there is a significant proportion of platinum used in construction. The master suite features a wall made from meteoric rock and, as if there were not enough sea life surrounding the vessel, the yacht also carries a massive panoramic wall aquarium.
Eclipse
A gigantic 533 feet long, the Eclipse has plenty of room for two helipads, 24 guest cabins, two swimming pools and several hot tubs. The most modern technology includes a futuristic anti-paparazzi laser shield, armour plating and a mini-submarine, capable of descending up to 50 metres underwater for unrivalled views.
Streets of Monaco
Best described as a 'floating city', Streets of Monaco boasts perfect miniature replicas of landmarks, including the famous Monte Carlo Casino. The company names of the designers who worked on the boat really say it all: exteriors by Opulent Yacht and interiors by Filthy Rich Boaters! The list of features (such as swimming pools, private elevator, balconies, barbecues, underwater viewing area and even a mini-waterfall) goes on and on.
