Two new orders for Van der Valk Shipyard
Van der Valk Shipyard in the Netherlands is on a roll. After enjoying a very successful show season and the introduction of the Van der Valk - BeachClub, the yard has also taken two new orders in quick succession for a 26-metre Van der Valk - Raised Pilothouse motoryacht and an 18-metre Van der Valk - Flybridge.
Both these semicustom projects will showcase the depth of personalised options available to clients within the renowned Dutch quality template that is the hallmark of the Van der Valk brand.
The Van der Valk - Raised Pilothouse will have a distinctive look, blending an overall modern style with understated classic elements. Its layout will translate into an elegant elevated wheelhouse position and a wide open forward main deck area. Both the interior and exterior have been devised in partnership with Guido de Groot Design.
“We are working very closely with the owners to ensure that everything on board reflects their particular preferences for this Van der Valk - Raised Pilothouse” says marketing manager Yoeri Bijker. “No expense is being spared as we develop a contemporary interior together of whitewashed English oak, classic highlights and unique features. The large windows will make the interior exceptionally bright, while clean, straight lines frame the open spaces and original components. The result is going to be superb.”
Space and comfort
The lower deck will be home to the owners’ cabin, which will occupy the full 6.2 metres of the beam and include a walk-in wardrobe. The guest cabins – one double, one bunk – to starboard and port will each feature ensuite bathrooms, as will the spacious VIP section forward. The flybridge deck will sport an outdoor helm station plus sun loungers, a U-shaped lounge dinette settee to starboard and a wet bar with fridge, wine cabinet and ice maker to port. There will also be ample space for a 4.2-metre tender and waverunner.
Equipped with the latest sound system by Bowers & Wilkins, the lounge will centre around a large island ideal for enjoying a meal in true country kitchen style. Automated sliding doors will link the lounge to a spacious outdoor area with lots of relaxation space, including a dinette.
Natural flow
The split-level wheelhouse arrangement will result in a natural flow between the elegant raised pilothouse, with its helm station and three seats, and the main deck. Floating steel stairs in polished stainless steel provide a graceful connection. The well-equipped galley will be flanked by a day head, while the crew mess, two crew cabins and bathroom are located further forward.
The new Van der Valk - Raised Pilothouse will have conventional shaft propulsion with propellers based on twin MTU 10V 2000 M93 engines of 1502 hp each, providing a maximum speed of around 25 knots. A Seakeeper 26 gyroscopic stabilising system will ensure maximum comfort for all those on board. Delivery is planned for late spring 2017.
